Music is an amazing language, period. Why? Its a language without
barriers that cut thru the absolute bullshit of our daily lives. It has
no form and can not be manipulated by the human species because if you
are pure inside then it will connect by the most fickle of ears. It will
penetrate your core and provide a fresh energy to propel you to another
dimension. My life has been music from as early on as I can remember.
Many key moments on the journey but as of this moment what has come to
mind is this...........
My nonna's basement (age of 4-6 yesrs old: within that range) where the
sound system was at my disposal. It was where I heard sound from
speakers, and my mind was fucking blown away. Playing around with the
knobs and volume, going thru every radio station from the fm dial to the
am, was pure bliss. At the top lay the record player and at the bottom
of where the equipment was positioned, were 100 vinyl records from Abba,
to Donna Summer etc. However, once I stumbled upon Elvis, I felt as
though I got struck by lightning! Hearing him made everything in the
world seem utterly meaningless. It was an answer to something I never
knew was there for me. Pure magic is the only way I can describe how I
felt. And that feeling has never left me.
You need to live life and experience whatever comes your way to make the
music you make as pure as possible. It really can't work or connect
without it. You also need to treat it with a humble respect.
Unfortunately, there are too many in my journey with music to feel sad
and ashamed for so called musicians who are not true to that philosophy.
And for those who are filled with that amount of gutless recklessness,
can simply: Go Fuck Yourself!
Sincerely,
Montreal Mushroom
